Job Purpose - Ministry of Justice, Approved Premises (AP) - Night Shift

EarnFlex has an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled security officer to play an essential role in providing high levels of security support to the Ministry of Justice, Approved Premises (AP). The post holder will assist in supervising residents, maintaining discipline and adherence to AP rules, licence conditions and court orders. Job Requirements

• Must hold a valid SIA Frontline Licence.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Contribute to effective team practice, communicate effectively with team members and pass on crucial information.
• Undertake regular inspections of the building throughout the period of duty, recording any occurrences/damage or defects, and monitor CCTV equipment
• Always maintain an active presence in the AP. Regularly engage with residents in a pro-social manner. Contribute towards protecting residents, e.g. monitoring in line with risk assessments.
• Monitor the behaviour of high-risk residents and motivate residents to ensure compliance. Respond appropriately to abusive or aggressive behaviour
• Ensure that the AP is locked and secure during the curfew period. Confirm the presence and well-being of all residents overnight. Ensure responsive tests are carried out when carrying out Curfew and Wellbeing Checks to ensure residents are well.
• Facilitate as a first/emergency point of contact for hours
• Escalate to the standby Manager any matters of concern to ensure the enforcement and compliance with court orders, licences, and AP rules.
• Undertake First Aid if a resident is injured or self-harms.

Officer specifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the ability to communicate effectively with various individuals.
• Able to work on your own initiative and within a team environment
• Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards
• Understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity
• Computer literate

• Salary: £12.00-£12.25 per hour
